For reasons unknown to clubs and lawmakers throuought the area, the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles has revoked the practice of allowing temporary regsitrations through area retailers.  This basically means that the only way you may register your snowmobile is throught the DMV.  Unfortunately, office hours for most DMV's do not include weekend hours, so they have made it quite difficult to register.  The DMV has set up a quick fix, temporary office at the Lakeview in Mayville for weekend riders.  The hours are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  This is the ONLY location you can register a sled on the weekends (unless you are making a purchase of a new/used snowmobile).

To date, there have been a large number of citations issued by the DEC and Sherriff Department due to lack of registration.  Please make every effort to register your snowmobile before you ride.

We appologize that the NYS DMV is making it more difficult to enjoy Western New York and all it has to offer!  Our political representatives were also caught off guard by this decision (by the DMV), and they are working to somehow remedy the situation!  Thank you for your understanding.
